For those who may have grown up in Washington, DC in the 70’s, the band, Funkedelic gave it the nickname of “Chocolate City” – and so it was with a population of African Americans at nearly 70%. The free camp, pairs local architects and designers with middle school students and aims to introduce underrepresented youth to architecture and urban design through the lens of hip-hop culture.
