Wick Beavers

Wick Beavers paints with his camera. He was one of the early photographers that ZO connected with (in this present incarnation) and his wit and eclectic style were an inspiration to the nexus we were trying to build between artistic disciplines.

We certainly were honored that he took a little time with our unique fledgling project. His credits are immense.

Born and raised in Manhattan, Wick is a fine artist and editorial portrait photographer based in NYC — specializing in shooting great pictures of cool people.

His portraits strip the masks of self-consciousness, bare the elemental truth of the subject and welcome the viewer into the trilogue between the subject and the photographer. It takes some life experience outside being a technician with a good camera to embrace all that.

About Wick

Wick sailed around the world, worked for Outward Bound school, has surfed many of the world’s best breaks, and has partnered with some really great people climbing mainly in the Rockies, Sierras, and Southwest. He’s had a sheep farm in Maine and has traveled extensively.

His pictures have been published in many magazines such as NEWSWEEK, FORBES, the DAILY BEAST, LA PHOTOGRAPHER, ARCHITECTURE, ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST, MIAMI HERALD, NY MAGAZINE, PENTHOUSE, 32 DEGREES, BUILDER, BOCA RATON MAGAZINE, 944, TINSLEY ADVERTISING, LEXUS of GREENWICH, the WHALERS’, STONINGTON and the STEAMBOAT INNS, the IOWA REVIEW, NM TOURISM, KEEPER SPRINGS WATER, ACAMS, SiTv, NSU, UNIVERSITY of MIAMI HEALTH, MENS JOURNAL, the AMERICAN ALPINE CLUB amongst many others and have festooned billboards, ad campaigns and the walls of many happy clients, as well. She is the mother of twins and that means she’s double busy! “Ever since they were born I feel as a referee as my boys fight all the time. When I’m not with them you will more likely find me retouching images and drinking tea. I’m a tea connoisseur. Photography is my second nature. In a pursuit of natural light and genuine emotions, I strive for perfection in every image. Perfection that won’t leave the viewer indifferent. IAN LANGE was ZO’s Pearl Winner (Tie) for the 2016 Teen Media Expo.

Ian Lange lives in Bozeman, Montana, where he spends his days climbing, skiing, traveling, exploring and photographing the surrounding mountains. Ian has always had an artistic drive, but it’s only been in the last three years that he has discovered photography. Since then he has spent much of his free time perfecting his craft while working to incorporate photography into his other interests. While traveling, Ian seeks to capture the atmosphere of the place, and in his shot “Stellar Camping”, which he took in Baja, Mexico, he succeeded in doing just that. With the stars soaring overhead, and the lonely tents lit up underneath the beautiful desolation of the location is conveyed.

Muhammad Zaqir was ZO’s Silver Winner for the 2017 Teen Media Expo in Photography. Muhammad was born and raised in Hong Kong and 18 at the time of winning. He attended High school at Po Leung Kuk Laws Foundation College (Grade 12). “Taking pictures was always my hobby. I love to capture beautiful and cheerful moments. This picture “Money Can’t Buy Happiness” was taken in a small village called Walia, Attock, Pakistan. I was touched to see such lovely adolescents enjoying and admiring their time without high quality gadgets that most kids in the developed countries and cities have. It shows the true meaning of life and that is certainly “Happiness!”
